Just a brief newsletter this month to keep you up to date with a few things.

Footloose Rockers

BACK TO CLASSES!

New classes start back week commencing 16^th January at all the regular times and venues.  A copy of the timetable can be found further on in this newsletter.  Note that we will be doing Advanced Rock n Roll classes twice a week now, so if you are thinking about doing it, now is the time to start, but please remember you must have completed all 4 Intermediate level classes before going up into the Advanced class.

Please note that there will be normal lessons on Australia Day 26^th January at Shellharbour Workers.

So start talking your neighbours, work colleagues, friends and family into coming along to the course which starts week commencing 16^th January.  You just need to get the people you are bringing to put your name on their enrolment form under the section “Where did you hear about us”.   If you need a new course flyer sent to you so you can pass it on, please let me know.

NEW YEAR’S EVE DANCE

Our New Year’s Eve dance was a great night.  Heaps of people got dressed in Fancy Dress, and everyone got into the spirit of the night. The band was fantastic and had the dance floor full all night.   There were 5 female and 5 male finalists in the Best Dressed prizes  – The Phantom (Greg) won best dressed male and Carmen Miranda (Silvia) won best dressed female.

ROCK N ROLL DANCE DEMO

We need some dancers to do a demo at Hungry Jacks at Hayward’s Bay on Saturday 28^th January from around 6pm.   They are having a car show and DJ Ray will be there as well.  Please let us know if you can make it.  We’ll only be there for an hour or so, then we’ll head off to Bulli Workers for the Rockin’ Eddie Band. 

ROCK N ROLL DANCES

We’ve got a great choice of dances this month in Wollongong!

If you are keen for a dance this weekend, there’s a great band playing at Illawarra Leagues Club (Church St Wollongong) tomorrow night – SATURDAY 7^TH JANUARY. The band is VINI & THE MOONLIGHTERS.    It’s in the auditorium and there’s a large dance floor;  starts at 7.30 to 11.30pm and it’s FREE!  Try and come along to this night, as the club has said they’ll put more on if we support it.

Westside Rockers have their monthly dance on FRIDAY 20^TH JANUARY at Wests Unanderra.  The band is the fabulous FULL THROTTLE ROCKERS – which is the band we had at our dance in November, and they were awesome!  Cost is $10.

Another great band – the Rebel Rousers – will be playing at Kiama Leagues on SUNDAY 22^ND JANUARY at 4.30pm, and its free.  It’s not a huge dance floor, but the band is definitely worth going for, and the club has a great atmosphere.    The Rebel Rousers will also be playing at our dance on 10^th March.

The ROCKIN’ EDDIE BAND will be on at Bulli Workers on SATURDAY 28^th JANUARY -  free;  great dance floor and bistro.  Eddie always puts on a great show!  Please try and come along – the club had originally booked them once a month for 2012, but have now cut it back to every second month because numbers haven’t been great at the last few.  SO MAKE SURE YOU GET ALONG TO THIS ONE – WE DON’T WANT TO LOSE A FREE VENUE LIKE THIS!

ELVIS PIZZA NIGHT OUT

We’re having a night out at a Pizza/Italian restaurant in Rushcutters Bay in Sydney on 18^th February.  It’s called ELVIS PIZZA, and there’ll be a great Elvis impersonator (Paul Fenech) doing a show on the night.  It’s all you can eat pizza and pasta, and it’s byo;  The price is $40.00 per person and this includes pizza, pasta, garlic bread, Greek salad, corkage and the show.  We’ll be organising a bus to take us up and back, but I won’t know the price of the bus until I get an idea of numbers wanting to go.

This sounds like heaps of fun, so if you want to come along, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP.  At this stage we have 18 going, and they are only holding 30 seats for us.  Email us at footloose@hotkey.net.au or call Sue on 0410 48 3560.

VIVA LAS VEGAS HOLIDAY – March/April 2012

LAST CHANCE TO BOOK!  Bookings for our holiday to the USA will close on 13^th January, so if you were thinking of coming, you need to do it ASAP.   If you require details of the holiday, please contact us.  For bookings, contact Daryl or Sharron at the Rock N Roll Travel club on 1800 654 899. 

If you have booked on this holiday and would like to receive updates of what we are doing, please email me at footloose@hotkey.net.au, as I don’t have everyone’s contact information.

For those of you who are doing the week extension finishing in New Orleans, some of us have decided to extend our holiday and stay in LA for a few days after returning from New Orleans. 

If you decide to do this, there should be no additional charge to the airfare, BUT this will depend on whether there are still seats available under the same category as those originally booked for us.  So if you want to extend, contact Darryl or Sharron at the Travel Club ASAP and let them know you want to change your return date to arrive Sunday 22nd April. 

I'll be hiring a bus to take us to and from the airport.  At this stage I have no idea of cost - that all depends on numbers and the size of the bus needed.  So if you would like to get the bus, could you please let me know by 13th JANUARY.
