Hi guys

 

Just a brief newsletter as we are flying out tomorrow (Saturday) to Thailand for 2 weeks.

 

As some of you are aware, we held a fundraiser for a wheel chair lift for Abbie Tippin at Dapto Bowling Club last Saturday night, and even though a final figure hasn’t been announced yet, we can say that enough money was raised to purchase the lift, plus make a sizeable donation to the upkeep of Abbie’s medical expenses.  Once all the cheques have been cleared and all auction money been deposited, the total amount raised will be announced then.  

 

We had a great night, and we’d like to thank everyone who donated cash, prizes, bought raffle tickets and gave their time to help raise funds for this very worthy cause.  Well done everyone!

 

Please note there will be no gig guide for November.

 

Have a great couple of weeks and we’ll see you back on the 10^th November for the start of our last course for the year.

NO LESSONS

There will be no lessons at any venue from 27 October to 7 November.

 

NEW 6 WEEK COURSE

The next 6 week courses will start week commencing MONDAY 10^TH NOVEMBER at all the usual venues.  A Timetable of classes can be found further on in this newsletter.

 

Please note there are quite a few changes from the current course, e.g. There will be NO BEGINNERS ROCKABILLY, but Intermediate Rockabilly will continue. 

 

There will be a 6 week BEGINNERS course in CHA CHA to be held at Shellharbour Workers at 9pm on Thursday nights, and a 6 week WALTZ course will be held at Port Kembla Leagues Club at 9pm on Wednesday nights.

 

Make sure you check out the timetable.  This course will be the last one for the year, so make sure you get some lessons in before the Xmas party!

 

NEW DANCE STYLE STARTING

We will be teaching a new dance style in the next course.  It is called SWING ROCK and is danced to slower rock N roll music.  The style is a cross between jive, rock N roll and swing, and is based on a triple step action, rather than 6 step.  The moves are different from those we currently teach in rock N roll.  This will give you a different style to do to the slower rock N roll songs.

 

The best news is - it's only $40 to do the WHOLE 6 WEEK COURSE!  That's great value for money, so give it a try!

 

BEGINNERS SWING ROCK will start at 7pm at PORT KEMBLA LEAGUES on Wednesday 12^th NOVEMBER.  See timetable at the back of this newsletter for prices.  EVERYONE WELCOME!

 

HALLOWEEN NIGHT - FREE

Backlash will be playing at the Dapto Bowling Club on FRIDAY 31ST OCTOBER, and it will be a HALLOWEEN THEMED NIGHT.  So how about dressing up in your Halloween/fright gear for a fun night.  The room will be decorated and Backlash will be playing all your favourite songs for a great night of dancing.  Time is from 6.30pm and it’s free.

 

FOOTLOOSE SOCIAL WITH DJ RAY - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The next social dance with DJ RAY will be held on SUNDAY 2^nd NOVEMBER at Corrimal Leagues Club (in the main auditorium), and the last one for the year will beheld on 30TH NOVEMBER. 

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Please note that the December Corrimal social dance has been brought forward by a week to 30^th NOVEMBER.  This is due to the fact that our Xmas Party is being held on the first Saturday in December and 2 dances in the one weekend doesn’t work.

 

This dance has a great atmosphere and is always a lot of fun.  Time is 6 – 9.30pm and the cost is $5 for adults and kids are free.  Come along and practice your moves and meet other Footloose students!

 

FOOTLOOSE XMAS PARTY

Tickets are now on sale for the Xmas party, which is just 6 weeks away! 

It’s on SATURDAY 6^TH DECEMBER at Woonona Bulli RSL. Tickets are $45 and will include a 2 course seated dinner.

 

Our Xmas parties are always heaps of fun and by far the best night of the year.  We will be performing skits and dance routines.  There will be heaps of lucky door prizes.  The band is DWAYNE ELIX & THE ENGINEERS and of course DJ RAY will be there as well.

 

ROCK N ROLL CRUISE in 2009

We now have 40 PEOPLE booked for our cruise in 2009!  If you are thinking of coming, don’t leave it too long to book as the ship is filling up!  See Sue for details.
